The isolator box serves to perform diagnosis on the new control unit generation with 198-pin connections. These control units can currently be found in the new Audi A8 MY 2010 >, for example, and will be installed at Volkswagen in the Touareg.
The new isolator box VAS 6606 has a modular design and features 66 connections per module. All future adapter cables will be compatible with these modules. Some existing adapter cables from the V.A.G 1598 series will be compatible with an adapter on these modules.
The whole isolator box is designed with the future in mind, e.g. voltage resistant up to 1000 volts, to ensure that systems from the high voltage range are sufficiently protected.
