Application:
The high voltage testing module VAS 6558A serves to perform measuring and testing tasks of a high voltage nature on high voltage vehicles (hybrid, plug-in hybrid and E-traction) of the Volkswagen Group.
Aside from the range of functions for hybrid vehicles already featured on VAS 6558 (testing for de-energized state and calculating HV insulation resistance), VAS 6558A includes the potential compensation measuring function (testing earth connection in accordance with ECE-R-100 for live HV components) and also an ohmic continuity test to check the vehicle-specific adaptations.
Through the requirements for CAT I for hybrid vehicles, VAS 6558A also fulfils the CAT II requirements for working on plug-in hybrids and E-traction vehicles.
For reasons of safety, the high voltage testing module may only be used in conjunction with a diagnosis tester and the "Guided fault finding" software (from BCD 18 / Offboard Diagnosis Information System Service).
To adapt VAS 6558A, a vehicle-specific high voltage test adapter VAS 6558/X is needed.

Design and features:
Test lead with insulated test probes.
Overcurrent, overload and short circuit protection for the highest level of personal protection possible.
Input and output are galvanically separated (via USB interface).

Technical data:
Test voltage of 500 volts to 1000 volts (can be adjusted via software in increments).
Direct measurement of insulation resistance (via base point resistance), also in accordance with SAE J 1766 via connectable resistance.
The voltage is supplied via the USB interface. The output is restricted to approx. 1.5 watts.
Calculation of insulation resistance and display in ohms/volts or as total resistance.

Measuring ranges:
± 750 volts, resolution 0.5 volts, ± 1.5% v.M. + 5 digits
± 100 volts, resolution 0.1 volts, ± 1.0% v.M. + 5 digits
± 20 volts, resolution 0.01 volts, ± 0.5% v.M. + 5 digits.

Ohmic measurement:
The test current depends on the measuring range and amounts to max. 5mA.
