Application:
The DSO test adapter is used to manually identify the de-energised state of the 48 V vehicle electrical system and to identify defective components. 
The adapter is connected in series in the DC+ line between the starter-alternator and the 48 V battery.  A precise description can be found in the Workshop Manual
